About Dubai

Picture
Dubai is one of seven regions or emirates that make up the country known as the United Arab Emirates.  Established in 1971, the UAE borders the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the west, Oman to the east and both the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, boasting a coastline of over 1000 km. Dubai is the second largest emirate, after Abu Dhabi, which is the capital.

Expatriates and foreign visitors enjoy a relaxed and pleasant lifestyle in Dubai.  There is virtually no crime, the city is clean, apartments and villas are modern and spacious and the climate is pleasant for most of the year.

There are tens of thousands of Australians in the United Arab Emirates, contributing to the economic growth of the country and enhancing links with the local community.

Culture and etiquette

Courtesy and hospitality are among the most highly prized of virtues in the Arab world, and visitors will be charmed by the warmth and friendliness of the people.

Dubai Dingoes Sports Club recognises that we are guests in our host country and that all of our members are ambassadors for our home country.  As such we must respect the Emirate’s culture, religion and habits and act in line with the standards for social ethics.

The Dubai Code of Conduct issued by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoom, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council in 2009, outlines standards for social etiquette which should be followed within the Emirate.
